We stayed here at the Rincon Cabin for a week and everything about this cabin was more than we expected. Was also a bit worried about the firewood situation.
Seem like such a ghost town. Hate the loud music people choose to play some of the time, but that is just the rude people that think everyone wants to hear the crap they listen too. It smells like a duck pond. We loved all of the hiking trails, and that they are almost all paved, our dogs and us had a blast.
Were the sites we were at in the Upper Mesa area. While on a walk with my family we had a squirrel come over in front of us and he was doing this funny spinning but we all thought he was being cute. They stay open at the front gate until 9pm, so no worries if you cannot make it earlier. There are large dumpsters as well as running water for whatever needs you have. Went here yesterday and honestly I was a little bit disappointed because the lake is HUGE but the area reserved for swimming is a small area in the shallow part of the lake so it was crowded and people were swimming very close to each other. This has prompted local media to express concerns over the large number of anglers keeping and eating fish from this popular Inland Empire lake. We had a pretty good experience here. We also came across a Bob cat who stopped to give us a look and he then went on his way. Silverwood Lake is close and so we enjoy coming in the winter when it is not crowded. We got to our camp site, the fire pit was full of trash from the previous campers. Enjoyed what I saw of this place. Not over crowded in the lake. We also went kayaking, it was so much fun out there. Hope that with the warm weather and being in proximity to summer will bring more happy couples, families and individuals. Water is not to cold during summer time and definitely worth a trip. Not too large where I feel I can lose track of my kids but not too small where the kids are bored.
Overall a well maintained lake and the bathrooms are generally clean. The order includes the south side of Highway 173 between Cedar Springs Spillway and Mojave Forks Park. Felt like I ran into a porcupine. We did both the flat trail that lead to shrubs of thorn like plants that will stick to all clothing items. We have assets from the Forest Service, from Cal Fire, from the county and surrounding agencies all combining to get a hand on this as quick as we can. Behind our campsite was a trail to the lake. The site was small, and was not full shade like the reservation had stated. The reason why we decided to go to Silverwood was because we were told good things about the lake, but once we arrived the water smelled bad and it was dirty with trash floating around.
We loved it there, the camp sites are roomy, clean and it was beautiful up there. They include six in Big Bear, one at Lake Arrowhead, one at Lake Hemet, two at the Lake Perris State Recreation Area and three at the Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area. Recently stayed here on very short notice, I had stayed here before and was very displeased but this time the staff was very friendly and helpful, it appears Management has changed. Go chopping on the trees there. The trail starts at ground level than starts to go down for a while till you reach a small creek. It is so close to home, and it felt so far. Other then that I do love this park. Street parking and detached private garages are available as well as being on the bus line.

About 400 firefighters were assigned to the blaze, including 30 engines, six crews, five dozers, eight helicopters, and seven air tankers. It is a State Park so I expected it to be a vast wonderland full of lush greenery and expansive sky. This is not a party campground. Love how you can pack some stuff and go for a hike and have a little picnic by the water. There are large closets in the hallways of each apartment as well as extra storage lockers on the ground floor for all those hard to part with items!
